Shonda Rhimes' upcoming Netflix series will star Julie Andrews

Screen legend Julie Andrews, has been cast in a Shonda Rhimes adaptation of Julia Quinn's Bridgerton novels. 

The "Sound of music" actress will play 'mysterious, sharp-tongued gossip writer' Lady Whistledown. Whistledown induces mayhem across London's upper-classes with 'a curious mix of social commentary and scathing insult' as a Netflix press release describes.

The currently-untitled Bridgerton series is set in the 'sexy, lavish, and competitive world of Regency London high society.' 

Over the course of eight one-hour episodes, viewers will join the Bridgerton family on a quest for 'romance, adventure, and love,' as the synopsis adds. The series is set to debut in on Netflix in 2020.
